So I figured I must have damaged my memory module while reseating the CPU and heatsink, so I send it back to corsair to get it replaced. I look around online, and others said to try repairing with the Windows Setup CD. I do so, but my windows setup locks up at the kernel debugger loading step, "File Setupdd. The two seem to be related]. Then, I decide to just buy a new hard drive, install windows on that, and then set my old hard drive with all my data on it as slave and copy it over. However, when I hit F6 to install drivers during setup as prompted, nothing happens, and set up just continues on, until it crashes at the same place "File Setupdd.

At this point, I don't have the old 80 GB hard drive in there, so essentially I'm just building a new system, instaling windows cleanly on a new hard drive. I have tried reading up on this, most people that get the first problem booting from hard drive, missing drivers solve it by repairing windows with the setup disk.

However, I can't do that because the setup freezes at Setupdd. I'm thinking it's a motherboard problem because everything else seems to be working. Thanks for your feedback. Same problem here. Windows XP setup on old Dell Dimension with a new hard drive. Various messages like above during the install process. Same problem on several Windows XP bootable discs that have been used before, home and professional. Found several forums where the recommendation was to replace the RAM. You are right I tried to put in the new memory and it would not take it.

I am going to take my memory back and get on chip. Thanks Fon.. Not for sure, as PC is 2 steps up and it also needs to be low density. I have had one that did - a Centron-but you will be taking a chance unless you get some guarantee it will work from the seller and a return option if it doesn't. I have got memory twice for my Laptop and both times it did not work my laptop would not boot up.
